Autumn Skincare

And just like that, Summer is more or less over and it’s time to prepare your skin for the coming Autumn months. This year, we’ve been blessed with our fair share of sunshine and heat, which some of us were more pleased about than others, but a heatwave that lasted for weeks packs a punch and can leave your skin in need of some TLC. The long hot summer can dry out your skin and trigger the onset of certain pigmentation concerns, which is why it’s important to re-evaluate your skincare with the changing season to not only repair the damage of the past few months, but also protect your skin from the months to come. At Health & Aesthetic Clinic, we believe in 3 golden rules to help get your skincare in check this Autumn.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is one of the most important steps of any skincare routine, especially after weeks of over-exposure to the sun. This damage can leave your skin looking and feeling dehydrated, with an influx of dead skin cells across the surface, which need to be taken care of. By neglecting to exfoliate, these dead skin cells can lead to enlarged, clogged pores and a dull skin tone. Try to find a product that works for you as exfoliation will allow for easier absorption of nutrition and minerals, making for a brighter, refreshed complexion. Why not try a deeply exfoliating and rejuvenating chemical skin peel at H&A Clinic? Each advanced peel is created specifically for your skin and your needs, eliminating the damaged outer layer of skin to restore a youthful glow and tackle a plethora of other skin concerns, from pigmentation to premature ageing.

Hydration

Dehydration is a common concern for sun-damaged skin, and it’s important to reintroduce lost moisture in time for Winter. The next step of your daily skincare regimen after basic cleansing and exfoliation is to then moisturise using serums, gels, lotions or creams that work for you and your skin type. In general, thicker creams work best for those of us who tend to suffer with drier skin on the whole. What most people don’t realise is that you should moisturise while your skin is damp to lock in this moisture, and don’t forget to take care of your body just as much as your face, which goes for each of these steps. Finding a moisturiser that works for you can take some time with such a saturated skincare market, so why not indulge in a bespoke facial to give your skin that much-needed boost. Soothing and hydrating, there’s sure to be a luxury facial treatment to suit you.

Protection

Our final rule for transitioning into Autumn skincare is to maintain your skin protection. Sunscreen is vital all year round as even on dull, overcast days, sunlight can easily penetrate through the cloud barrier, exposing your skin to harmful UVA and UVB rays. Failing to properly protect your skin from sun damage can lead to premature ageing, pigmentation concerns, dullness and dryness, sunburn and even skin cancer. Both UVA and UVB rays harm your skin in certain ways, so be sure to invest in a sunscreen that protects your skin from both types. We recommend products with a minimum SPF of 30. For existing sun damaged skin, we offer a number of highly advanced treatments to combat everything from fine lines and wrinkles, to sun spots and other hyperpigmentation concerns.
