Frequently Asked Questions

by our clinic in South East London
    • What is lip enhancement?

This treatment uses dermal fillers to add volume and definition to lips. Dermal fillers are gels made from hyaluronic acid which are injected into specific areas of the lips to contour and plump.

    • How long does the treatment take?

Lip enhancement takes around 45 minutes, but it’s important to allow at least 60 minutes so we have plenty of time for a thorough consultation (especially if you’re having lip enhancement with us for the first time).

    • How long should results last?

Results vary from one person to the next and also depend on the type of dermal filler and your metabolism. Lips are the most used part of the face which gradually reduces effectiveness of the filler. Smoking also has a negative impact on fillers. Generally, results will last from 4 to 6 months. We’ll talk through this in detail during your consultation.*

    • Does it hurt?

Most people find the treatment only mildly uncomfortable. We use a topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) and many dermal fillers also contain anaesthetic to reduce pain.*

    • How do I care for the area after treatment?

Any swelling or redness should go down soon after the treatment but it’s a good idea to avoid sun beds, saunas, steam rooms and extreme temperatures. It’s also important to not wear make-up for 12 hours after your treatment.

    • Are dermal fillers safe?

Dermal fillers are an extremely safe treatment and many thousands of procedures have been carried out. Allergic reactions are very rare. If you have a history of cold sores, you may experience an outbreak after the treatment although the risk can be kept to a minimum by taking antiviral medication.*
